Tyvek World is collaboration between two designers and one material. Diego Ramos and Luis Eslava create a collection of products that tries to explore all the specific properties of Tyvek in combination with other materials and different industrial processes.
Tyvek is a brand of flash spun high-density polyethylene fibres, a synthetic material; the material is a very strong; it is difficult to tear but can easily be cut with scissors or any other sharp object. It’s Waterproof. Tyvek superficially resembles paper, it can be written and printed on.
Each designer has developed some products with the only common point that was use Tyvek as a main material.
We cut it, we fold it, we punch it, we sew it, we glued it, we painted it, and we combined it with latex, resins and foams to create what we called the Tyvek World.
By combining different techniques, we designed a chair, a stool, a lamp, a vase and a carpet.
This project was shown by first time in Madrid, in Casa Pasarela 2008.
Wrinkles chair (one of the chairs designed) has been selected by the curator Juli Capella to take part of the exhibition 300% Spanish Design, organized by the SEACEX.
